Being an integral part of teaching procedure, testing plays a hand in consolidating what students have learned before. If there is one thing that many teachers put emphasis on, as they deal with teaching, it is the importance of testing and evaluation. It cannot be denied that without testing, it is virtually impossible to make sound decisions about students' performance. Accordingly, this section offers a variety of question packages developed by expert or novice teachers across the province. What's more is whether they comply with testing principles. The ones displayed here are to be judged, shared and used by English teachers. To do well on this section requires plenty of time and I hope this section will sufficiently inspire and motivate English teachers to take a closer look at the new trends and developments in testing and evaluation realm.
However, three things should be taken into account: first, each of us, to one degree or another, is locked within the confines of the framework dictated by educational system as well as authorities. Second, backwash effect, that's "teaching to the tests", which notoriously penetrates into teaching and interferes with streamlining teaching process. Last not least, changes in testing patterns follow changes in teaching methods and measurement theories.
AzerELTA is happy to get feedback from all members and teachers on this. Feel free to share your views about the tests you come to see.
